RIDE Β· SAUNA Β· PLUNGE

Everything you wanted to ask before you walk in.

Whether it's your first RIDE or your five hundredth, here's how this place works β€” the bikes, the heat, the cold, and everything around them. Come with questions. Leave lighter.

Nothing matches that yet. Try a different word β€” or just call us at 949.295.0710.

Your first time

The short version: show up early, bring water, and let us handle the rest.

+I've never been to VESSEL. What actually happens?

Three things live under one roof, and you can take them in any order.

  • RIDE β€” 45 minutes on the bike, low light, music forward, an instructor calling the room.
  • SAUNA β€” infrared heat that works from the inside out. Quieter than the RIDE. Just as intentional.
  • PLUNGE β€” cold water, on purpose. The part people fear and then can't stop talking about.

Most first-timers RIDE, then descend into the cold, then let the heat close it out. You'll be greeted at the door and walked through all of it.

+What should I bring?

A towel, a water bottle, comfortable workout clothes, and athletic shoes. We have a tap for refills β€” you're going to sweat, so drink plenty before and after.

If you're planning to PLUNGE or SAUNA the same visit, add [ suit / second towel / anything else you want them to bring ].

+How early should I get there?

About 15 minutes. A friendly face will be at the door to check you in, set your bike, and show you where everything lives. It's the difference between starting your first class settled and starting it scrambling.

+What does the first visit cost?

Your first RIDE Β· SAUNA Β· PLUNGE experience is $30. Book it on the site or in the VESSEL app, and create an account while you're there β€” new member offers land in your inbox.

[ Confirm this intro rate is current, and note any expiration or one-per-person terms ]

+I'm not in great shape. Will I be able to keep up?

Yes. The resistance knob is yours and nobody else's β€” the class moves together, but the effort is always your own. Our instructors are trained to give you a way in at every point in the ride.

You're not here to prove anything. You're here to fill up.

Tell your instructor it's your first time. They'll keep an eye on you.

RIDE

45 minutes. Every one of them yours.

+How long is a class?

45 minutes on the bike, start to finish. Add 15 for arrival and setup, and [ time to allow for SAUNA / PLUNGE after ] if you're staying for recovery.

+What's the difference between RIDE and EMPOWER RIDE?

[ Describe EMPOWER RIDE in your words β€” what changes: the music, the messaging, the intention, who it's for. Both are 45 minutes. ]

+Do I need cycling shoes?

No β€” but they help. Our bikes take SPD and DELTA LOOK clips, so bring your own pair if you have them.

If you're riding in regular athletic shoes, we have baskets that fit right over the pedals. Email us before you come so we can have a bike ready for you.

+Do I have to set up my own bike?

Never on your first visit, and not on any visit you'd rather not. Come 15 minutes early and we'll dial in your seat height, handlebars, and cleats. Once you know your numbers, they're yours for good β€” we'll write them down for you.

+What's the room like β€” dark, loud, both?

Low light, music you can feel, and no mirrors to hide behind. It's built so you stop watching the room and start listening to yourself.

[ Confirm β€” and mention earplugs at the front desk if you keep them ]

+What if I need to stop mid-class?

Then stop. Sit up, take your resistance down, drink water, breathe. Nobody in this room is keeping score. If you feel dizzy or unwell, step off the bike and let your instructor know β€” that's what they're there for.

SAUNA

Infrared heat. Stillness with something to do.

+What makes infrared different from a regular sauna?

A traditional sauna heats the air around you. Infrared heats you β€” the light is absorbed directly by the body, so you sweat deeply at a lower, more breathable air temperature. Most people find they can stay in longer and come out feeling loosened rather than wrung out.

+How long is a session, and how hot does it get?

[ Session length, temperature range, and how many people fit ]

A good rule for your first few sessions: start shorter and cooler than you think you need, drink at least 8 oz of water going in, and 24 oz coming out.

+What do I wear, and do you provide towels?

[ What to wear in the SAUNA, whether towels are provided or brought, where to change ]

+Do I book SAUNA separately from a class?

[ How SAUNA is booked β€” separate reservation, add-on to a RIDE, walk-in, included with membership ]

+Should I SAUNA before or after my RIDE?

Either works, and both feel different. Heat before a RIDE opens you up; heat after it settles everything down.

If you're doing all three, we generally suggest PLUNGE first, then SAUNA β€” ending warm is kinder to the body than ending cold.

[ Confirm this is the order you coach ]

PLUNGE

Cold water. Two minutes. A whole different day on the other side.

+How cold is it, and how long do I stay in?

[ Water temperature and recommended time for beginners vs. regulars ]

Short and consistent beats long and heroic. You get the benefit from showing up, not from outlasting anyone.

+It's my first plunge. What do I actually do?

Get in slowly and deliberately. The first 20 seconds are the loudest β€” your breath will want to run. Don't let it.

  • Long exhales, longer than the inhales.
  • Shoulders down, jaw soft, hands relaxed.
  • Stay with one breath at a time instead of the clock.

Get out the moment it stops feeling like discomfort and starts feeling like distress. Descending is the practice β€” staying under isn't the point.

+What do I wear in the PLUNGE?

[ Swimsuit required? Provided towels? Where to change and where to leave wet things ]

+Is there anyone who shouldn't SAUNA or PLUNGE?

Yes β€” please talk to your doctor before using the SAUNA or PLUNGE if any of these apply to you:

  • Heart or cardiovascular conditions, or a pacemaker or defibrillator
  • Pregnancy
  • Diabetes, or any condition that affects your ability to sweat
  • Fever, or reduced sensitivity to heat or cold
  • Hemophilia or a bleeding disorder
  • Metal implants or pins
  • Medications β€” especially diuretics, barbiturates, or beta-blockers
  • A joint injury in the last 48 hours

Never use either after alcohol or recreational drugs. Everyone signs our waiver before their first visit, and it covers this in full. Tell us what we should know β€” we'd always rather adjust than assume.

Booking & policies

Clear rules so the room stays fair to everyone in it.

+How do I book?

Through the schedule on this site, or in the VESSEL laguna beach app β€” free on iPhone and Android. Create an account first; it holds your bike preferences, your credits, and your history.

+What's the cancellation policy?

You have 12 hours before class starts to cancel without penalty. Cancel inside that window or don't show, and you lose the class credit.

If you're sick, tell us. We'd rather you stay home, and we'll work with you outside the window.

+I'm running late. Can I still ride?

Call us at 949.295.0710 at least 15 minutes before class and we'll hold your bike for the first 10 minutes. After that, it may go to someone waiting.

+How does the waitlist work?

Add yourself online. If a bike opens up you'll get an email asking you to confirm β€” first come, first served, so keep an eye on your inbox.

+Do my class credits expire?

No. Credits never expire. They're non-refundable, but they're yours as long as you want them.

+Can I give a class to a friend?

Yes β€” credits can be shared or transferred on request. Just ask us at the desk or drop us a note and we'll move it over.

Membership & pricing

Ways in, from one visit to all of them.

+What are my options?

[ Drop-in rate, class pack tiers and prices, membership tiers and prices ]

Everything current lives on the pricing page.

+Does a membership include SAUNA and PLUNGE?

[ What each membership tier includes on the recovery side β€” unlimited, capped, add-on pricing ]

+Can I freeze or cancel my membership?

[ Freeze length and how often it's allowed, notice period to cancel, how to request either ]

+Do you take ClassPass?

Yes β€” you'll find us on ClassPass as VESSEL Laguna Beach.

[ Note which offerings are bookable through ClassPass and whether new-rider setup still applies ]
